京都大学教育学研究科レクチャーシリーズ第3回として、Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Ciencias Sociales y HumanidadesのProf. Carlos Ornelasをお迎えし、下記の通り講演会を開催いたします。

■題目：Mexican Education Reform: An intramural affair
■Abstract：Although there is a fruitful intellectual discussion about the transfer of educational models, Mexico seems isolated from “itinerant ideas.” The politics of Mexican education are immersed more with struggles over labor issues than with pedagogy or teachers’ training. Still, “suggestions” arriving from intergovernmental organizations influence official policy documents.These organizations champion a global education reform movement, or GERM, as Pasi Sahlberg calls it. The Peña Nieto administration launched an education reform in 2013 that adapted crucial features of such a model, like teachers’ evaluation, standardized testing, emphasis on students’ learning, and a comprehensive labor relations statute designed to remove corporatist tradition and corruption. The current Mexican government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador focuses on internal matters over the international milieu. Its main political goal is to dismantle the 2013 educational reform because of its “neoliberal” emphasis that changes teachers’ traditions. In this talk, I will explore three theoretical standpoints: the world culture theory, the neocultural imperialism perspective, and the borrowing and lending approach in comparative education to develop an understanding of these recent changes and contestations in Mexican education.
