概要：

There are many debates around environmental and geopolitical around energy transition and storage. But what happens with workers? Who are they? How do they work and live? Dr. Nuria Giniger presents her research about the relationship between energy transition, lithium production, and workers in salt flats in Argentina, which avoids producing EVs. This special seminar explores the often-invisible labor realities behind Argentina's lithium boom. As the world rushes to secure lithium for the energy transition, it highlights a lack of research about mining workers in this strategic industry and examines who exactly is undertaking the mission on the ground—their conditions, struggles, etc. The discussion will challenge the dominant narratives about "green mining" by illustrating another perspective, centering workers' experiences. Focusing specifically on labor perspectives rarely addressed in mainstream energy transition debates, Dr. Giniger analyzes precarious employment, health, and safety risks. The presentation aims to spark urgent conversations about labor rights in renewable energy supply chains, using Argentina's lithium sector as a critical case study.
